The castle is dim at night, with only some buildings having lights on. The lights at the Omotemon Gate are only on until 10pm, while the spotlights at the castle tower are still on after 10pm. Hiroshima Castle is sparsely populated at night, so it is recommended to walk around during the day first so that it will be easier to find the way when you visit at night. Recommended photo spots for night visits are near Omote-gomon Gate, on the overpass in the southwest corner, and outside the castle tower in the northwest corner. The east side is relatively dark, so it is recommended to skip it. Transportation: From Hiroshima Electric Railway Kamiyacho Nishi/Shiyakusho-mae Station, walk for 15 minutes to the south of Hiroshima Castle.
