Hita Mamedacho

Mamedamachi is a town along the Kagetsu River in the northern part of Hita City, Oita Prefecture. It has been designated as a nationally designated important preservation district for groups of traditional buildings, and was certified as a Japanese Heritage site in 2015. Maruyama Castle was built in 1601 (Keicho 6), and the area around the castle was called Maruyama-cho. After 1616 (Genwa 2), the castle was renamed "Nagayama Castle". The castle town was then moved to its current location and called Mamedamachi. It's a nostalgic townscape that preserves the old Japan ^_^. Why not take a stroll around the fun townscape and find sake breweries, soy sauce specialty shops, and eel restaurants? The #Sapporo Beer Factory is also nearby.
