The Hong Kong Museum of Coastal Defence is the only military-themed museum in Hong Kong. It was converted from the old Lei Yue Mun Fort and is located on the cape of the Lei Yue Mun Channel. It was previously closed for reconstruction due to typhoon damage, but has now reopened. It tells the story of Hong Kong’s complex historical background and unique coastal defense. Admission is currently free to the public and it is definitely worth a visit. The permanent exhibition is set up in the Lei Yue Mun Fort. The eleven themed exhibition halls converted from cellars are very educational and can help the whole family gain a better understanding of Hong Kong's coastal defense history.
