Hong Kong's Yuen Tsuen Ancient Trail: A Journey Through Centuries of History

The Yuen Tsuen Ancient Trail connects Yuen Long and Tsuen Wan, boasting a history of over 300 years. Once a vital path for villagers transporting agricultural goods, it has now become a classic hiking route. Route Information • Length and Duration: The trail spans 11-12 kilometers and takes approximately 4 hours and 30 minutes to complete. • Route Overview: Tsuen Wan Adventist Hospital - Yuen Tsuen Ancient Trail - Shek Lung Kung - Tin Fu Tsai - Ching Kwai Tong - Sham Tseng Village. • Trail Conditions: The path includes stone-paved roads, dirt trails, and cement paths, making it relatively easy to walk. The elevation gain is around 400 meters, with the first 2 kilometers being uphill and more challenging, while the latter part consists mostly of flat or downhill sections. Transportation • From Hong Kong Urban Area: Take the MTR to Tsuen Wan Station, exit via A, and board bus 39M to "Adventist Hospital". • From Shenzhen Futian Port: Take the B1 double-decker bus to Yuen Long "Yau Sun Street" stop, transfer to bus 68M to "Tsuen King Circuit Footbridge" stop, and walk 10 minutes to the trail entrance. Scenic Highlights Along the way, hikers can enjoy views of the Tsing Ma Bridge, lush greenery, and breathtaking sea views from the Shek Lung Kung viewing platform.
