Visit the 'Hong Kong Great Wall' and the Mural Village during the Dragon Boat Festival

Apart from enjoying dragon boat races during the Dragon Boat Festival holiday, you can also go hiking. The Huashan Military Trail in Sheung Shui, New Territories, is an easy and relaxing hiking route. Due to its winding path along the mountain ridge, it is nicknamed the 'Hong Kong Great Wall.' Starting from Tiger Hill Pass in Sheung Shui, hikers ascend the trail while enjoying two distinct views: one side showcases the rural scenery and new towns of the northern New Territories, while the other offers a distant view of Shenzhen's urban landscape and the Wutong Mountain area. Along the way, you can spot the Rain Prayer Monument erected during the Qing Dynasty in 1839 and the giant Hong Kong Regiment emblem on the hillside. The trail spans approximately 6 kilometers, with the highest point reaching about 120 meters⛰️. The entire route is well-paved and not challenging, taking about 2 to 3 hours to complete. After reaching Ping Che Road, you can visit the nearby Ping Yeung Mural Village🏡 to admire its colorful and creative murals and upcycled art installations. 🚍Transportation: Take bus 73K from Sheung Shui to Wenjindu Road and get off at Tiger Hill Pass to start the hike. For the return trip, take bus 79K from Ping Yeung Road back to Sheung Shui. ⚠️Note: Since the Huashan Military Trail passes near the Tai Ling Firing Range, check the firing range schedule before setting out.
