🇭🇰 Sham Shui Po Hidden Gem｜A Second Life for the Century-Old Water Palace Ex - Sham Shui Po Service Reservoir The former Sham Shui Po Service Reservoir, built in 1904, was once part of Hong Kong's first gravity-fed water supply system. It has since been decommissioned and revitalized as a historical site. Designed in Roman-style architecture, the reservoir features a structure supported by 108 granite columns and a 9-meter-high vaulted ceiling, inspired by Victorian-era waterworks in the UK. It is now the only remaining design of its kind in Hong Kong, exuding a retro-industrial vibe. Previously, it was almost entirely demolished, but fortunately, it was discovered in time, exposed to the public, and urgently classified as a historical building. After restoration in 2021, it is now open for public visits 💁🏻♂️ 📍 How to Get There 🚇 Take the MTR to Sham Shui Po Station, exit B2, and walk approximately 15 minutes (follow Berwick Street to Woh Chai Hill). ⚠️ No reservation is required for visits now, but there is a limit on the number of visitors allowed inside.
