Tranquil Nam Sang Wai, Hong Kong

If you are into the nature and plants, it’s not a bad idea to spend half day working in the local village of Nam Sang Wai in Yuen Long. The entrance is within walkable distance from Yuen Long west rail station. Along the way you can see the traditional houses of old Hong Kong, and appreciate the many fruit trees along the way. There is also a lotus pond where you can see many lotus flowers when it is in the right season. If you prefer a short walk, you can make a small round trip in 30 minutes. If you are adventurous and want to explore further, you can walk for 4-5 hours as well. Mind you, inside the village there are quite many fierce dogs who try to guard their families’ houses with loud bark. They can look scary but as long as you don’t make eye contact with them and walk slowly, showing no intention to harm anyone, they will be fine after a while.
