Taiping Lake in the Mist and Rain

Taiping Lake Scenic Area is located between Huangshan and Jiuhua Mountain, at the center of Anhui Province's "One Lake, Two Mountains" tourism development strategy. It is less than 30 km from the north gate of Huangshan, the south gate of Jiuhua Mountain, Taohuatan Scenic Area, and Zhaji Ancient Village Scenic Area. In 1970, the Chencun Reservoir was expanded into Taiping Lake and began to store water. Before that, two county towns were relocated: Taiping County and Shitai County. The original ancient towns were submerged underwater, becoming old streets at the bottom of the lake. The construction of this large reservoir is similar to Qiandao Lake in Zhejiang. Today, Taiping Lake has a wide surface, with scattered islands and mountains reflecting in the water. The lake is as green as jade, pure blue, and blends with the sky. At Taiping Lake Wharf, there are boats and motorboats for tourists to enjoy the lake and mountain scenery. There are several routes: some last more than two hours, while others last nearly four hours. We chose a route that lasted more than two hours, visiting Longyao Village, Monkey Island, and Tianxia Taiping City, sailing through the mist and rain. Longyao Village, near the north shore of Taiping Lake, combines primitive features, folk experiences, and natural landscapes. You can learn about the local ceramic culture and folk customs during the Ming and Qing dynasties. Monkey Island is a natural reserve for macaques, where you can observe monkeys playing up close. It is especially suitable for tourists with children, but also for elderly people with a childlike heart. Tianxia Taiping City, also known as Bagua Island, is located in the center of Taiping Lake. It is a unique attraction that combines natural scenery and traditional culture. The facilities on the island, such as the Bagua Maze, Hetu, and Luoshu, showcase traditional Chinese Zhouyi culture. Taiping Lake Scenic Area is vigorously developing water entertainment projects, such as jet boats, water flying fish, and banana boats. There are beautiful and well-equipped hotels and clubs 1 km from the wharf, providing living support for water sports and entertainment projects. Taking a boat tour of Taiping Lake is truly refreshing. I think it would be even better without the mist and rain.
