Molo is a district of Iloilo City in Iloilo Province, Philippines. The name "Molo" came from the word "moro", the name of the Islamic group called Moro that frequently raided the town. The predominantly Chinese population of this town who had difficulty pronouncing the "r" kept pronouncing molo instead of moro. Molo is popular for its Molo Church, a centuries-old church which lies in front of the Molo Plaza. In front of the plaza is the Molo Mansion, one of Iloilo City's finest old homes built in 1920. Found this mouth watering special black shawarma at Snack barn in Brgy. Quintin Salas, Jaro, Iloilo. It’s a must try shawarma because the pita bread used is made of malunggay (horseradish) leaves the famous vegetables leaf in the Philippines which is readily available in local commodity. Paired with yakult lemonade that will really satisfy your hunger after a long day of exploring the beautiful city of Iloilo. Enjoy the panoramic view of the island at the top of Mt. Opao peak at Sicogon Island, Carles, Iloilo, Philippines. A 5-hour ride town from city of iloilo by land then take a boat going to the island for an hour or when coming from Manila they have a small airport in this island. This was my first hiking experience and such a fulfillment to reach the top. While on your way to the peak you will see many pitcher plants. Once you arrived at the peak, it feels like your tiredness wiped away because of breathtaking view and fresh air and witness the landing of a small airplane. Also, a perfect way to escape stresses in life and the city with stunning views that soothes the mind. I had fun striking a pose with the island as the background.
