Two Days in Ipoh: Castle, Cave, & Culture

We just spent two days exploring Ipoh, and it was a perfect mix of history, nature, and culture! Here’s what we did and some tips for anyone planning a visit. Day 1: A Walk Through History • Kellie’s Castle – Our first stop was this mysterious, unfinished mansion. The mix of Scottish and Moorish architecture made it a unique sight, and the eerie stories behind it added to the experience. We arrived early to avoid the heat, which was a great decision. • Perak Cave Temple – Next, we visited this stunning cave temple filled with intricate paintings and golden statues. We climbed to the top for a breathtaking panoramic view of the city—totally worth the effort! Day 2: Temples & Nature • Kek Lok Tong Cave Temple – This was one of our favorite spots! The temple inside the cave was impressive, but what really stood out was the peaceful garden hidden behind it. We took our time walking around and soaking in the tranquil atmosphere. • Ipoh Old Town – Before leaving, we explored the old town, checked out the famous street art, and, of course, had to try Ipoh’s famous white coffee and bean sprout chicken. The food lived up to the hype! Tips for Ipoh: ✔️ Start early – The heat gets intense by midday. ✔️ Use Grab or rent a car – Attractions are spread out, and public transport isn’t the best. ✔️ Dress comfortably – There’s a lot of walking and climbing stairs at the temples. ✔️ Try the food – Ipoh’s cuisine is famous for a reason!
