Standing Stones

Calanais standing stones is a landmark located on Isle of Lewis. Scotland have quite a few similar places but this is the main one. The stones in the movie Outlander were based on Calanais stones. To get there you need to have a car. There are a few places to see the stones around. There are 4 locations in total. How to get there: The sones are located on the west side of Isle of Lewis, around 30min drive from Stornoway.

Carloway Broch

Carloway Broch is located above Loch an Duin on a rocky knoll in a good defensive position. It is 36 kilometers 36 minutes drive from Stornoway harbour or bus W2 with 6 minutes of walk. The Carloway Broch is one of the best preserved in the Hebrides that date back over 2000 years. It is approximately 9 metres high and 15 metres diameter. It is open 24 hours with no admission fee, visitors centre is only open in summer.
