[Türkiye] Topkapi Palace

Topkapi Palace was the residence of the Ottoman monarchs from the mid-15th century to the mid-19th century. 🏰 ⁡ Topkapi Palace, along with Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque, is one of the "Historic Areas of Istanbul" that are registered as World Heritage Sites. 📝 ⁡ The harem (serem) inside the palace is one of the recommended places to visit. ⁡ The harem has 400 rooms, and at its peak, it was said to have housed 1,000 women! ⁡ The beautiful decorations are truly impressive, as expected of the Ottoman Empire, but the windows with iron bars look quite out of place. ⁡ There are many harems from all over the world, past and present... ⁡ You need to pay for the harem in addition to the palace admission fee, but I definitely recommend seeing it! ⁡ It was a lot of fun to tour the palace while checking the knowledge I gained from watching TV and studying world heritage sites! Before I knew it, it was already closing time 🌆 ⁡ And please note that in some facilities women are required to cover their hair, so if you have a scarf, bring it with you! #overseastravel #triptoturkey #worldheritage
