[Fukushima, Iwaki: Shiramizu Amidado]

#FuritabiWinter This Amida Hall, located in Shiramizu-cho, Iwaki City, was built in the late Heian period and is the only building designated as a national treasure in Fukushima Prefecture. It was built in 1160 by Fujiwara no Kiyohira's daughter, Tokuhime, to commemorate her husband, Lord Iwaki Norimichi. The beautiful curved roof and Pure Land garden are in harmony. Most of the murals inside the hall have been lost, but some have been restored and decorated with highly colorful patterns.
