Kaiping Diaolou | Chikan Canada Village Chikan Canada Village is a famous village from the Republic of China era in Kaiping. It is a must-visit for photography and ancient architecture enthusiasts. I even saw a couple taking wedding photos there, haha. The village is famous for its unique scenery, as it is made up of small Western-style buildings built by overseas Chinese during the Republic of China era. Canada Village was originally called Xia Village New Village, also known as Yaohuafang. It is called Canada Village because all the villagers have immigrated to Canada. One of the houses has a prominent maple leaf symbol in front of it. During the Republic of China era, a villager named Guan Guonuan went to Canada to earn money and returned to build a luxurious villa.
