Guangxi Self-Driving Tour (XVII)

Ten kilometers south of Shanggantang Village is the Gou Lan Yao Village Scenic Area, which has a parking lot and ticket office. It is estimated that it may be used during rural tours during holidays. When we went there, there was no one on duty, so we drove directly into the village. The Yao ethnic group has many branches. The Yao villages here have been in contact with Han government since the Ming and Qing dynasties, and there has been a lot of integration between the Yao and Han. There are some old buildings left over from the Ming and Qing dynasties in the village. The brick and wood houses are not much different from the Han buildings in Shanggantang Village. The village is located in the mountains. It blends with nature according to the undulating terrain and rivers and ponds, creating beautiful scenery. This is the border area between Hunan and Guangxi. Many mountains show karst landforms and the vegetation also has tropical characteristics. More than ten kilometers to the south is the Fuchuan Xiushui Zhuangyuan Village Scenic Area, which is the territory of Hezhou, Guangxi. When we arrived, we found that it was far worse than Gou Lan Yao Village and not as good as advertised. There was only a simple Zhuangyuan Temple, a stage, a Dushi Mountain and a few old trees.
