I've been to Jiaxing five times, and here's my travel guide! Inspired by a song to visit a city

Hey everyone👋, is there a song that, like a gentle breeze carrying warm moisture and ancient charm, stirs your yearning for a famous Jiangnan city? For me, it was the song "Ode to Jiaxing": "Jiaxing's beauty, water town's charm, the Grand Canal's long history, the red boat on South Lake's new glory, Wuzhen and Xitang's ancient charm, the aroma of Zongzi drifting for thousands of miles, the Jiangnan pearl blooming." These picturesque and charming lyrics perfectly showcase Jiaxing's unique charm, making me eager to embrace this city. In March, filled with anticipation, I embarked on a journey to Jiaxing. Check out my travel guide! 🌆Jiaxing, located in the northeast of Zhejiang Province, is a Jiangnan water town with a rich history and culture. Here, you'll find the elegant and beautiful Wuzhen, with its winding bluestone paths, scattered waterfront houses, and an atmosphere of tranquility. You'll also find South Lake, a place of profound history, where the red boat rests quietly on the shimmering water, evoking images of past events. And don't miss the vibrant Yuehe Historic District, with its crisscrossing ancient streets and alleys, and a dazzling array of shops showcasing the diversity of life. In March, Jiaxing is in full bloom, with willows green and flowers red. The warm sun shimmers on the river's surface, creating a poetic scene reminiscent of a traditional Chinese ink painting. 🚗Transportation Guide ✈️By air: You can fly to Shanghai Hongqiao Airport or Hangzhou Xiaoshan Airport and then transfer to Jiaxing by high-speed rail or bus. It's very convenient and fast. Jiaxing South Railway Station has numerous train services, and there are seamless connections to local buses and taxis, making it easy to start your water town adventure. City buses mostly operate from 6:00 am to 8:00 pm. You can pay with Alipay or WeChat's bus QR code. Check the bus app for real-time information before traveling. 🚗If you're driving, Jiaxing has a well-developed highway network, clear road signs to various attractions, and ample parking at scenic spots, so parking is not a problem. 🗺Recommended Itinerary Day1️⃣: Wuzhen East Scenic Area - West Scenic Area (Stroll through the East Scenic Area in the morning to experience authentic water town life, and immerse yourself in the West Scenic Area in the afternoon and evening to enjoy the stunning night view and ancient town atmosphere.) Day2️⃣: South Lake - Jiaxing Museum - Yuehe Historic District (Visit the red boat in the morning to explore revolutionary history, visit the museum in the afternoon to learn about local culture, and wander through the ancient streets in the evening to savor Jiaxing's cuisine.) Day3️⃣: Xitang Ancient Town (Experience the unique charm of the ancient town, take a boat tour, visit special venues like the Button Museum, and enjoy the leisurely atmosphere of Xitang.) 🌟Must-See Attractions 📍Wuzhen West Scenic Area: As night falls and the lights come on, the West Scenic Area transforms into a dreamlike place. Ancient bridges span the waterways, reflecting the lights on both sides. Take a Wu Peng boat ride through the canals, surrounded by the sounds of paddles and the glow of lanterns, as if stepping into a painting. Every photo you take will be a masterpiece📷. 📍South Lake: As one of the birthplaces of the Communist Party of China, South Lake holds great significance. Board the island in the center of the lake, where the red boat rests quietly, surrounded by vast waters and weeping willows along the shore. Book online in advance. The East Scenic Area is rich in culture, while the West Scenic Area boasts stunning night views. For accommodation, consider staying in a guesthouse in the West Scenic Area and contact the owner in advance for pick-up and drop-off services. 2. South Lake is free to enter, but boat rides to the island require a ticket. It's recommended to learn about the red history before visiting. Jiaxing Museum is free and offers insights into local culture. Yuehe Historic District is free and has a wide variety of food. Stroll through the streets and savor local specialties like Jiaxing Zongzi and South Lake water chestnuts. Pay attention to food hygiene. 3. Book Xitang Ancient Town tickets in advance. Be mindful of protecting the ancient buildings while exploring. The Button Museum is an interesting place to visit. Choose your preferred time slot for the boat tour. 🍜Local Food Recommendations 🥘Jiaxing Zongzi: This is Jiaxing's signature dish. It's glutinous but not mushy, rich but not greasy. The meat Zongzi is savory, while the date Zongzi is sweet. One bite combines the fragrance of the Zongzi leaves with the glutinous rice and filling, making it a warm and appetizing breakfast👍. 🥗South Lake water chestnuts: These round and smooth water chestnuts have tender flesh and can be eaten raw for a refreshing, sweet taste, or cooked for a different flavor. After a day of exploring, you can fall asleep to the sound of flowing water, immersing yourself in the ancient town atmosphere. 💖Travel Experience During these three days in March in Jiaxing, I felt like I was immersed in a world of poetry and endless charm. The beauty of Wuzhen, the solemnity of South Lake, and the delicious food all captivated me. Humming "Ode to Jiaxing" while strolling through the streets, I truly felt the city's allure.
