It was built in the 10th year of the Shaoxing period of the Southern Song Dynasty (1140) and was extensively renovated in the 2nd year of the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty (1876). The existing building complex consists of 21 single buildings, covering an area of about 16,000 square meters. It is the largest, most complete, and best-preserved historical building complex of its kind in Lingnan, and is also a national key cultural relic protection unit.
