Jieyang Jinxian Gate Jieyang Confucian Temple

Jieyang Confucian Temple was first built in the 10th year of Shaoxing in the Southern Song Dynasty (1140). It has been repaired many times in the Yuan, Ming, and Qing Dynasties. The large-scale reconstruction in the second year of Guangxu in the Qing Dynasty (1876) laid the foundation for the existing pattern. It was repaired again in 1987 and is now the seventh batch of national key cultural relics protection units. This was once the highest government-run school in ancient Jieyang. Jieyang Confucian Temple covers an area of about 21,000 square meters and consists of 21 single buildings. It is the largest and best-preserved ancient building complex in Lingnan, known as the "Pearl of Ancient Architecture in Eastern Guangdong" and "Little Forbidden City in Guangdong." It is the second largest in China, second only to the Confucian Temple in Qufu, Shandong. There are also national key cultural relics protection units in the ancient city of Jieyang, such as Jinxian Gate, Guyong Wumiao Temple, and Ding's Guanglu Gong Temple, as well as historical blocks such as Zhongshan Road Arcade Street.
