The first stop (Jilin City Manchu Museum) This is a national third-level museum, belonging to the social science category of ethnic topics. It is located in the only remaining well-preserved Qing Dynasty Siheyuan (courtyard house) residence of Wang Baichuan, built in 1932. Wang Baichuan was a local wealthy merchant during the late Qing Dynasty and early Republic of China, who donated a large sum of money to build the first highway bridge over the Songhua River, the Jilin Bridge. Empress Dowager Cixi once sent a convoy of 50 carriages to borrow money from him. Inside the museum gate, a huge stone stands with a bronze falcon ready to take flight. The museum is divided into seven main exhibition halls: the Preface Hall, Manchu Traditional Folk Customs, Land of Dragon Prosperity, Dashing Ula General Office and its Tribute, Artistic Essence, Jilin Ula Manchu Culture, and the Xiketeli Clan Shamanic Sacrificial Hall. There are more than two thousand exhibits, including 35 national-level cultural relics.
