Visit the Manhena Village market in Xishuangbanna this weekend!

Manhena is the closest ancient village to downtown Xishuangbanna and is easily accessible by taxi. However, remember to ask the driver to drop you off at the village entrance inside, as it's almost a 10-minute walk from the gate on the main road. 🥭Market Day We were lucky enough to visit Manhena during its monthly market day, which takes place on single-numbered weekends. The market is similar to a large fair, but with a more celebratory atmosphere. You might even catch various dance performances around 10:00 am. (If you specifically want to experience market day, remember to check the schedule.) The market usually lasts until evening. Although there are fewer stalls in the afternoon than in the morning, there are also far fewer tourists. As you walk through the market, you'll find all sorts of Dai snacks, fruits, fresh juices, Dai-style barbecue, cold dishes, and more. You definitely won't leave empty-handed. 🥭What else does Manhena have to offer? Although Manhena isn't very large, it has a history of over 1,200 years. Besides the bustling market, if you enter from the right side of the village entrance, you'll find traditional wooden stilt houses, temples, and various flowers and fruit trees, all perfect for taking photos. While Manhena has a slightly commercial feel, if you walk up the quiet mountain path, you'll find that many of the beautiful buildings on either side are homestays. You'll also discover charming handicraft shops, unique coffee shops, and restaurants with pleasant ambiance.
