Strolling along the Poyang Ancient Street, every snapshot tells a story-filled tale.

Once a vital trade route connecting Jinhua and Taizhou, it was a bustling hub for merchants. The street preserves numerous Ming and Qing-era buildings, showcasing the traditional architectural style of Jiangnan residences, with significant historical and cultural value. Moreover, Poyang Ancient Street serves as an important showcase for Jinhua's intangible cultural heritage, such as Wu Opera and Jinhua Daoqing, where traditional art forms are kept alive. I noticed many traditional workshops along the street, like bamboo weaving, wood carving, and ironwork, offering a close-up view of artisans' exquisite skills. There were also a few old-style teahouses where I sat down to enjoy tea and music, surprisingly experiencing a rare moment of leisurely slow living during a business trip. The street also features a variety of Jinhua's local snacks, such as Jinhua crispy cakes, ham-stuffed zongzi, and glutinous rice cakes—each with unique flavors worth trying. Wandering and snacking made for a delightful experience. Poyang Ancient Street is an ideal destination for nostalgia, photography, and immersing in traditional culture. Walking on the bluestone-paved road feels like stepping back into the bustling streets of a thousand years ago, savoring the weight and tranquility of history.
