The Kobe Kitano area is a tourist spot lined with foreign-style houses✨ First up is [Kazamidori no Yakata] When it comes to foreign-style houses in Kobe Kitano, the Kazamidori no Yakata is well-known✨ This is the home of German trader Gottfried Thomas (G. Thomas). Among the foreign-style houses still standing in the Kitano-Yamamoto area, it is said to be the only building with brick exterior walls. It features a heavy atmosphere that is different from other foreign-style houses, such as the colorful brick tones, stone-built entrance porch, and half-timbered (wooden frame structure) on the second floor. The mansion incorporates traditional German style while also giving off an Art Nouveau vibe. It is scheduled to be closed from October 1, 2023 to [tentative] March 31, 2025 due to earthquake-resistance renovation work. Please be careful if you are going during this period. A foreign-style house designated as a "nationally important cultural property." Drewell, born in France in 1857. It was built in the early Taisho period. 2-story wooden building with hipped roof and shingle roof. Purchased by Kobe City in 1978 (Showa 53). Construction was carried out to open it to the public, and it was developed as an information center for the area. It was named "Rhine no Yakata" after the Rhine River in Germany, the home country of former resident Mr. Oberlein, and the beautiful straight lines of the clapboard on the walls.
