Hipster Chinatown Back Alley: Kwai Chai Hong

If you’re shopping along Petaling Street or checking out the cafes and old school stores in KL’s Chinatown, consider making a detour to Kwai Chai Hong. Located mere steps away from Pasar Seni LRT, Kwai Chai Hong is a hipster back alley decorated in colourful lanterns. During the day, you can admire and snap photographs of the lovely restored shophouses and beautiful wall murals. Kwai Chai Hong also hosts various cultural art exhibitions that change seasonally based on the current festival. For example, a Mid Autumn exhibition was on display during my visit, hence the giant moon and traditional gates. Best of all, entrance is free of charge! At night, Kwai Chai Hong comes alive as the street is illuminated and gives off a completely different vibe.
