Fort Margherita Kuching

Fort Margherita is an old fort constructed in 1879 by Charles Brooke, Rajah of Sarawak, and named after his wife Margaret Alice Lili de Windt. It was designed in the style of an English castle. Its original purpose was to protect Kuching from pirates attack. It was later re-purposed as a police museum after Sarawak gained independence and formed Malaysia. Now it has turned into a museum known as The Brooke Gallery and is considered as one of the most priced museums in Kuching. Worth a visit to have a glimpse of the colonial era in Kuching. You may reach the Fort by boat from Kuching Waterfront. Address: Fort Margherita, Petra Jaya, 93050 Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia Ambiance/Facilities: 8/10 Rating: 4/5 #mustvisit #kuching
