The temple where the saying "Three heads are better than one" originated: Manjusri Senji Temple, Mount Emei, Kunisaki City

#DomesticTravelRecord This year, I went to Mt. Emei Manjusri-senji Temple in Kunisaki City for my first visit of the year. Founded in 648, Mt. Emei Manjusri-senji Temple is known as one of the three great Manjus in Japan and is said to be the birthplace of the proverb "Three heads are better than one." The principal image of the temple, Manjusri Bodhisattva, is displayed to the public once every 12 years in the Year of the Rabbit. There are nearly 300 stone steps leading up to the main hall, Manjusri-do. I heard that the proper way to climb is from the main approach, so I climbed the stone steps to the main hall. The lush main approach gave me a sense of history and weight. (There is also an east approach that does not require climbing any steps.) The scenery around Manjusri-senji Temple is called "Manjusri-yama" and is a nationally designated place of scenic beauty, so please enjoy the scenery as well. ▪️ Mt.
