InterContinental Kunming: Dianchi Lake and Seagull Views

Kunming is located on the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau, where the Jinsha River, Nanpan River, and Honghe River meet. Humans lived in the Dianchi Lake area as early as 30,000 years ago. From the Warring States period to the early Eastern Han Dynasty, the Dian people around Dianchi Lake established the Dian Kingdom and created the Dian culture. General Zhuang Qiao of Chu led his troops to the Dianchi Lake area. Because the return route was cut off by the Qin State, they stayed in the Dianchi Lake area and became the King of Dian. Later, during the Western Han Dynasty, the Dianchi Lake area was incorporated into the Central Plains territory. The Nanzhao Kingdom built Tuodong City, which was called Shanshan City during the Dali Kingdom. The InterContinental Kunming has an excellent location on the shore of Dianchi Lake, overlooking the Western Hills. The landscaping is beautiful, making it a great resort hotel. The rooms are especially quiet and comfortable. A ten-minute walk will take you to Haigeng Dam, a scenic spot for viewing seagulls on Dianchi Lake. This trip to southwestern China started with a high-speed train from Chongqing to Kunming. I first checked in to the InterContinental Kunming. It was during the Lunar New Year holiday, and it was snowing in Kunming, making it the perfect season to see the seagulls. It was so beautiful! This is my third time in Kunming. Last time, I mainly visited the Xishan Scenic Area, Longmen Grottoes, and Kunming Old Street. This time, I mainly visited the Yunnan Provincial Museum, Yunnan Nationalities Village, Dianchi Lake to see the seagulls, and the Ancient Town of Guandu. What a wonderful time! I will definitely come to Kunming again if I have the chance.
