Stunning Sunrise

Luoxia Valley is the perfect place to see the red earth 红土 (Dongchuang Red Land) near Kunming. Drive 3 hours from Kunming to reach this beautiful destination. A car can be arranged for about 800rmb from the city. Stay at a guesthouse in the valley for added convenience. There’s a large viewing platform to view the red land from and the perfect spot to watch the sunrise. If conditions are right you are in store for a spectacular show. In July on a Monday morning I was the only person on the entire platform for sunrise. If you like to enjoy nature without the crowd this this the perfect location.
