Sensoji Temple 🇯🇵

Sensoji Temple is both a sacred place for the Japanese people and a landmark for tourists. Inside the temple is the shrine of the Bodhisattva Kannon, or Goddess of Mercy, and is home to the famous Asakusa Shrine, Shinto shrines, and a five-storied pagoda. According to legend, in 628, two brothers, Hinokuma Hamanari and Hinokuma Takenari, often went fishing in the Sumida River every day. One day, the two brothers did not catch a single fish in the river. Due to their hunger, the two prayed to the gods to catch a fish for dinner. After praying, the two cast their nets, but what they caught was a five-inch-tall golden statue of the Goddess of Mercy.
