Jonan-gu Shrine is the shrine that protects the south of Heian-kyo and is said to be the "Great Shrine of Protection from Divine Movement." The grounds are large and impressive, and it also has a garden. It is known as a famous spot for plum blossoms. The "Kyokusui-no-en" (Entrance to the Swinging Waters) is held twice a year, in the spring and autumn.
