SOT COFFEE ROASTER, a Western coffee shop near Toyokuni Shrine in Kyoto, Japan

It was past 8:30 when I finished visiting Kiyomizu Temple. Although it was still early, there were already a lot of tour buses on the road and the sun was shining brightly. I thought about finding a coffee shop to sit down and have my first cup of coffee on my birthday, which I dedicated to Sot Coffee Roaster. SOT Coffee is located near the #ToyokuniShrine where there are fewer tourists. The small shop is decorated with large white canvas and bicycles. The simple and artistic style will make people take a few more glances when passing by. I picked this shop randomly, abandoning the many hipster cafes in the 2nd and 3rd grade. One reason was to find some peace and quiet, but the main reason was that it didn't open that early! Zoom in on Google Maps and search and filter, and this is the one! Most of the employees at Sot Coffee Roaster are Westerners. From eavesdropping on the conversation, I found that the blond male employee with a curly beard who looked like the boss was from Denmark. There are not many seats in the store. Half of the space is used to display the homemade roasted beans and workbenches. There is also a Japanese-style room with tatami seats for 6 people, and the rest are four tables and chairs against the wall. I ordered a cold and slightly sour Sicilian iced coffee with a piece of matcha cheese cake. It was pretty good and helped to cool down, slow down the pace, and find the next goal #建仁寺. In fact, most of the coffee shops during the trip are not big ones. Sometimes we just look for them to escape the heat, so what is pleasing to the eye and intuition are the key to selection.
