[Kyoto] Go'o Shrine, a rare shrine associated with wild boars

#Spring0yenTrip Go-o Shrine is located very close to the Kyoto Imperial Palace, and when I visited, I was first surprised by its unusual boar motif. Instead of lion-dogs, lion-dogs greeted me, and there were boar statues all over the grounds, creating a unique atmosphere. The deity enshrined is Wake no Kiyomaro, who is known as the guardian deity of the legs and hips. Many people actually visit the shrine to pray for the health of their legs and hips, and I ended up praying carefully too. The shrine itself is not that big, but the clean and well-kept grounds are pleasant and perfect for a quick stop. The goshuin (red seal) was cute and memorable, and the shrine had a strong presence despite being in a quiet location. It was a shrine with a warm atmosphere that felt somehow familiar, even though it was in the center of Kyoto.
