[Kyoto] Shinsenen, a historic garden built in 826

#Spring0yentrip Shinsenen is a small temple quietly located just south of Nijo Castle, and when I dropped in, I found it to be quieter and more mysterious than I had imagined. It was once a garden reserved for the emperor of Heian-kyo, and even now, a large pond spreads across the grounds, and walking around it makes me feel as if I have traveled back in time to the Heian period. There is a red bridge in the pond, and it is said that if you cross it, your wish will come true, so I made sure to cross it. The temple enshrines Zennyo Ryuo, and there is also a legend of her praying for rain. A little away from the hustle and bustle of the surrounding area, this space surrounded by water, greenery, and tranquility was perfect for a short break. It is not very well known, but I felt it was a hidden healing spot in Kyoto.
