To our surprise this Pagoda Mountains serves a great overlooking view of the Yellow River and the city of Lanzhou. You can go up by cable car or just walk. We opted to walk, it was tiring, yes, but there is beauty in climbing up. You will see the city slowly as you go higher up the mountain. When you reach the top, this is where you will see the White Pagoda in which the mountain was named after. #timetotravel Xiguan Grand Mosque in lanzhou is a must see as this is one of the oldest and the biggest mosques in Lazhou. It is centrally located so it is easy to go to. The mosques facade and architecture is really attractive especially that isn't really common to see mosques in other provinces. Getting There - fly to Lanzhou zhongchuan airport from there take a train bus or car, all are around 1 hour to the city Attractions - noodles Hotels - Lanzhou has many up and coming hotels such as the hyatt or Hilton Food & Restaurants - beef noodles and the local bbq are to die for. I would go onto lan shan mountain for the bbq tho good views and good food Shopping - the city doesn't have a range of shopping experiences, the best thing we have is Lanzhou centee 兰州中心 which is just a mall the beands are good brands but theres no top notch brands here. I'd recommend visiting lanzhou. For those of you who live in the big cities such as Beijing, guangzhou, Shanghai, lanzhou is the place to go. If you want to get back to the more traditional China. It is a small city. It is surrounded by beautiful mountains, which you can go up and have an amazing view of the city. However, let's not lie. If you come to lanzhou wanting a really beautiful little city. It's not the place to go. It's very industrial and quite dusty. Although the people are friendly here However, there are not many foreigners. So if the locals see a foreigner, they're going to be very interested. Although be warned because cancer is a poor province. The local health code doesn't work for foreigners. Because it's winter, during the day it's more than -10⁰ degress celcius you cant even touch the steel construction of the bridge...grrrr At night it's much worse coldness not more than- 20⁰ degress celcius. I love love love love the cold lol The bridge is beautifully light up at night....very the super the romantic....Imagine freezing cold, you walk in the arms of your love one giving warm kisses like those melodramatic romantic drama hahaha Then you stop buy at one of the restaurant along the river near the Zhongshan bridge. One of the most famous tourist destinations in Lanzhou is Mount Lanshan. Though it is seated at around 2500 meters tall, you don't actually have to climb much more than 500 meters as Lanzhou itself is quite high up. You can enter from a number of paths at the bottom, but the easiest to find entrance is from Wuquanshan Park. Here at Wuquanshan, those who don't want to make the two hour climb can also opt to take a cable car instead. Once you're at the top, you will find a big park with lots of trees and temples as well as a 4D cinema showing you all the beautiful places in Gansu. Cycling through Gansu can be a monotonous experience; vast expanses of loess hills and dry canyons. It was exactly how I was feeling that day pedaling up the road. To my surprise the hills in the next village started showing patches of color, like a giant unseen painter has cleaned his brush on the hillside. As I was moving forward more an more colorful fields; I knew that I was getting closer to the canvas of this imaginary painter. One more bend in the road and there it was, a quaint little village hanging from the terraces cut in the hillside, each terrace brilliantly colored by fields of lilies. This is the village of Sunjiagou. From Lanzhou take local bus 44 to Balizheng and there ask a local do drop you in the village. It’s an amazing experience for flower lovers; just make sure you go there in early July. Most of the flowers are lilies, not just any lilies but day lilies, so if you don’t enjoy just looking at the flowers you can also eat them 😀 #flowerlover

Lanzhou is about 1500 miles away from the nearest ocean, and yet there is an opportunity to go scuba diving. At the local aquarium 兰州海洋公园 you can not only see the pretty fish but also go for a dive. On arrival at the aquarium, someone from the staff will take you directly to the dive site. There they'll give you a wetsuit, flippers, mask and of course the scuba gear. They will help you put everything on correctly and then take you to the big aquarium. You can swim around and watch the fish for quite some time. Of course the fish tank is not nearly as large as the ocean, so it does get a little bit tiring after a while.
