Discover the Majestic Wat Xieng Thong in Luang Prabang

Wat Xieng Thong, also known as the Royal Palace Temple of Luang Prabang, was constructed by King Setthathirath in 1560. Like other royal buildings in the country, Wat Xieng Thong is located along the Mekong River, serving as one of the most important landmarks in this ancient and charming ecological city. The most unique feature within the golden splendor of Wat Xieng Thong is the Tree of Life on the main hall's wall. It is said that a towering 160-meter tall Mettong tree once stood at the site of the main hall, but it fell due to various reasons. To immortalize this great tree, the builders created a mosaic of the 'Mettong Tree' using gemstones and colorful glass on the wall of the main hall.
