Travelogue of Mont-Saint-Michel, France

Mont-Saint-Michel, located on the Normandy coast in northwestern France, felt like a mystical island straight out of a legend. A solitary abbey floating above an endless expanse of tidal flats created a breathtaking view. Despite the long journey involving trains and buses from Paris, the moment I arrived, all my fatigue vanished in the face of its sheer beauty. Arriving before sunset, I walked slowly along the path through the tidal flats to the island. The sight of the island seemingly floating on the sea due to the tidal changes was so surreal that it made me forget reality for a moment. As I entered the island, I was greeted by stone paths and walls that retained the atmosphere of the medieval era. Climbing up the narrow and steep alleys, the grand and majestic abbey gradually revealed itself. Mont-Saint-Michel Abbey has stood as a center of faith for nearly a thousand years, sometimes serving as a fortress. Its interior was both solemn and mysterious, and the view of the sea and sky through the windows felt like gazing at a sacred painting. After touring the abbey, I enjoyed local specialties like omelets and seafood dishes at a small restaurant on the island. As the evening breeze gently blew and the lights began to illuminate one by one, Mont-Saint-Michel unveiled yet another enchanting side. Its serene and mystical nightscape was even more impressive than its daytime charm. Mont-Saint-Michel felt like more than just a tourist destination; it was a grand narrative where nature, history, and faith intertwined. This tranquil island floating on the sea will remain in my heart for a long time.
