The Giant Budda of LeShan: A Sight to Behold 🪷

This has definitely been one of the most impressive hikes I have been on so far. Although not very high in altitude, nor incredibly challenging in altitude, I felt incredibly humbled at the feet of this creation. I remember feeling simply awed by the immensity of this carving at the side of the cliffs. We visited the Giant Budda of LeShan (乐山大佛) on our way out from Chengdu as a day-trip. After only an hour and a half of high speed train 🚄, we arrived at LeShan's main train station. From there on, it was a quick 20 minutes Didi drive 🚕 to the northern entrance of the national historic site. Then, it was a quick 30 minutes walk🚶to the Giant Budda carving. From the top of the hike, you can see a close-up of the head of the Giant Budda. Then, if you want an even closer view of the Giant Budda, you can climb down a couple of flights of stairs along the side of the cliff to its feet. This location offers an even better view of the great carving. Note: If you want an even bigger hike, you might want to visit the 东山佛都 theme park. It contains more recent day carvings of Buddhist icons in underground caves and also offers great views of the mountains nearby. 🏔️
