The hidden luxury of the ancient style in Dali Ancient Town, is this hotel really worth it?

I first came across the "An Yu" hotel in Hangzhou, where its small yet exquisite charm was stunning. It was only later that I learned this young niche national hotel brand originated in 2017, with its first creation debuting in Lijiang Ancient Town. 'A Corner of Peace' perfectly interprets the brand's essence. On this trip to Dali, I didn't hesitate to include it in my must-stay list. Dali An Yu, which opened in 2021, is the fourth branch of the An Yu series. Its location is quite exquisite, with ten rooms hidden in an alley near Erhai Gate in the ancient town, just minutes away from the bustling district. It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that it's a great retreat within An Yu. The building was transformed from a three-story old house. The first floor's public area is divided into four spaces. The afternoon sunlight filters through the floor-to-ceiling windows, casting mottled shadows that slowly climb up the carpet, tables, chairs, and sofa, as if playing a game with time, instantly increasing the good vibes as you enter. The guest rooms are located on the second and third floors. We stayed in a deluxe room, which came with a thoughtfully prepared travel gift pack of ten items 'sunscreen, wet wipes, glasses, shawl...' that were just what we needed, affectionately referred to as the Doraemon magic pocket, leaving a deep impression. The interior features elegantly restrained medieval furniture and rustic items, with a natural retro wooden color tone that presents a high-quality texture like in the movies, easily mastered. The abundant terrace afternoon tea and breakfast are also full of surprises, making it hard not to love. To truly experience the essence of Dali, you must visit the ancient town. Every time I come to Dali, I discover little surprises and small joys in the old town, just like this An Yu hotel.
