The oldest neighbourhood, Alfama is full of narrow alleys, old buildings and markets, perfect for exploring on foot or by tram, where you can soak up the history at every turn. The Belém district is close to the coast and is a witness to the Age of Discovery. It has classic attractions such as the Belém Tower, the Monument to the Discoverers and the Jerónimos Monastery. For a three-day trip, it would be smoother and more comfortable to spend one day in Belém and two days in Alfama. ＊ I live near Fig Tree Square so I will arrange it this way for your reference. Day1: (Belen District) Breakfast: Casa das Bifanas Pork Chop Bun > Belem Tower > Monument to the Discoverers > Jerónimos Monastery > Casa Pastéis de Belém > MAAT Contemporary Art Museum > LX Factory > Ler Devagar Bookstore > Dinner: Bonjardim Early in the morning on the first day, we went to the century-old Casa das Bifanas for a classic Portuguese pork chop bun, which is the favorite breakfast choice of locals. After breakfast, we headed to the Belém district. The #BelemTower, standing on the banks of the Tagus River, was once an important symbol of Portugal’s glorious Age of Exploration. We just wanted to take some photos. Then ride an electric scooter to the #DiscoverersMonument, a 52-meter-high white stone monument that presents the image of a ship setting sail, symbolizing Portugal's leading position in the Age of Navigation. When you come here, don't forget to take the elevator inside the monument and climb to the top observation deck. Finally, we visited the #Jerónimos Monastery, a world cultural heritage site with exquisite Gothic architecture that is definitely worth a stop and a closer look. Then we came to LX Factory, a trendy cultural and creative base in Lisbon. This area converted from an old factory has become an art paradise where young people gather. There are shops with a strong sense of design and literary cafes here, and any photo taken here will look good. If you are a book lover, don’t miss Ler Devagar Bookstore, whose huge printing press and towering bookshelves are definitely a great place for everyone to take pictures.
