Mount Wugong in May punishes everyone who doesn't plan ahead

🚄Transportation guide: The two of us took a high-speed train🚅 from Wuhan and arrived at Pingxiang North Station at noon. After eating something, we took a bus for 27💰 to the tourist service center near Mount Wugong, which took about 70 minutes. The hiking poles look great in photos—some people even borrowed ours to take pictures[Grin]. 🏨Accommodation guide: We stayed at Cloud Inn (Mount Wugong Golden Summit Branch). Before coming, I read online that it's a 10-minute walk from the Golden Summit and quiet. But in reality, it took me about half an hour after climbing for hours to reach the Golden Summit, and then another half-hour down the stairs to the inn. Other than that, it was fine. We booked a mini stargazing room—the bed was big enough for two, and they provided slippers, toothpaste, and toothbrushes (nothing else). If you don’t want to be too far from the Golden Summit, just stay there, though it might be noisy at night due to hikers (weekdays are better). Another option is Zhong'an Hotel (Zhong'an Zijigong Branch) halfway up the mountain—ideal if you don’t care about sunrise/sunset views and want better accommodation. It’s about 3 hours from the Golden Summit. [Scenic]Route guide: There are three routes. The shortest (and steepest) passes through Lovers' Gallery—quite challenging. You can take the Zhong'an Cable Car (65💰) partway. The Golden Summit also has a cable car (25💰). We only took the Zhong'an Cable Car uphill. For the descent, take the Hero's Slope route—the longest but most scenic, with beautiful alpine meadows perfect for photos. [1:00]Sunrise/sunset times: Vary by weather. This season, sunrise is around 5:30 AM and sunset around 7 PM. Plan your climb or cable car ride accordingly if you want to catch them—ideally start hiking before noon. [ShoppingBag]Essentials: A hiking hat (windproof, for sun protection)—sold at the base for 20💰 (compare prices from different vendors). We didn’t need the disposable raincoat (weather was clear), but bring one if you want to see sea of clouds (requires rainy-to-sunny conditions). Cash wasn’t necessary—signal was decent. Other items: sunscreen, windbreaker (medium thickness), quick-dry T-shirt/pants, facial wipes, travel-sized makeup remover, power bank. Disposable slippers weren’t needed, but bring disposable bedsheets (pillows at the summit were moldy). The room had an electric blanket—warm enough, but nighttime winds were loud. Food: instant noodles, bread, chocolate, electrolyte drinks (one bottle wasn’t enough). Summit water costs 10💰; meals are 60–70💰 per dish—better to eat at the base or bring your own. 💰Total cost: Round-trip train 460💰, accommodation 489💰 (for two), one-way Zhong'an Cable Car 65💰, two-way descent cable cars 50+25💰, entrance ticket 70💰, round-trip bus 54💰 (27x2), food/drinks ~200–300💰.
