[Egypt ★ Luxor] Luxor Temple

We will introduce Luxor Temple in Luxor, Egypt. Luxor Temple was built as a sub-temple of Karnak Temple during the New Kingdom. Karnak Temple and Luxor Temple were once connected by an approach lined with sphinxes. Also known as the "Southern Harem," it was built once a year for the Opet Festival, when Amun visits the temple to spend time with his wife, Mut, during the flood season of the Nile. During the festival, offerings to the gods were placed on a shinko and paraded down the approach to Luxor Temple. Luxor Temple is famous for the obelisk in front of the First Pylon. There used to be two obelisks, but now there is only one, and the other is in the Place de la Concorde in France. This is because Muhammad Ali, who founded the Muhammad Ali dynasty, gave it to France. France gave the clock tower in the Muhammad Ali Mosque in the historical district of Cairo. Luxor Temple is so grand that it is hard to believe it is a sub-temple. Entering the first pylon, there is the Court of Ramses II, the Court of Amenhotep III, and the Great Hypostyle Hall connecting the two courtyards.
