As the earliest Chinese church in Macau, it was the cathedral of the Bishop of Macau before the cathedral in the square in front of the church was built. It is the first cathedral after the establishment of the Macau Diocese. The church is famous for its simple and elegant Portuguese architectural style. The exterior walls are made of milky white stone and the roof is covered with red tiles. The overall feeling is simple and solemn.
