Melaka Straits Mosque -a floating mosque

This golden-domed beauty is known as the Melaka Straits Mosque or Masjid Selat Melaka. It is built on the man-made Malacca Island, overlooking the Malacca Strait, one of the longest and busiest straits in the world. The mosque is built on stilts above the sea, with its minaret designed to resemble a lighthouse. When the water level is just right, the mosque looks as though it is floating making it a popular destination for tourists, photographers and locals. The mosque’s design speaks to both Malay and Middle Eastern architecture with its striking golden dome, stained glass windows and traditional Islamic motifs #tripblazers #fallingforfall #awesomepic
