Mengyuan Fairyland in Xishuangbanna is located in the national nature reserve of Xishuangbanna, Yunnan, within the UNESCO Man and the Biosphere Reserve

It is one of the first pilot towns for health and wellness in Yunnan Province and also one of the 20 key cultural and tourism projects in the province. Mengyuan Fairyland covers an area of about 16.4 square kilometers, with a total investment of about 4.8 billion yuan. Focusing on the overall goal of building a world-class 'healthy living destination', the project aims to create a flagship demonstration project for Lancang-Mekong cooperation in health and wellness. It focuses on high-net-worth individuals and drives development through the integration of health and wellness, tourism, research learning, and sports. The project is positioned to build a 'rainforest spiritual cave, a paradise for health and wellness', and aims to create a world-class destination for haze removal and detoxification, a tropical rainforest canyon health paradise, the first constant temperature cave health care base in the country, and a high-end domestic retreat sanctuary. Mengyuan Fairyland boasts rich tropical rainforest resources. Located at 21° north latitude, the average annual temperature is 21°C. The constant temperature in Baojiao Niudong is 21°C throughout the year, with no extreme heat in summer or severe cold in winter, making it a natural healing environment. The peak value of negative oxygen ions reaches 320,000/cm³, providing a natural negative ion bath. The earth's magnetic field ranges between 4.6-5.0 Gauss, offering a natural magnetic healing field. The water flowing out of the primitive tropical rainforest, with its small molecular cluster structure, is rich in minerals such as strontium and metasilicic acid. The project has a unique rehabilitation environment and a three-dimensional ecosystem, making it a health and wellness retreat that integrates leisure, sightseeing, vacation, and experience. Mengyuan Fairyland has diverse ecological resources such as cave wonders, tropical rainforests, and karst landforms, as well as a multicultural mix of Theravada Buddhism, Baojiao Niudong culture, and the ethnic customs of the Dai and Yao peoples. It is a 'wonderful sanctuary' for cultivating the mind and nurturing the spirit. The rich tropical rainforest resources and colorful ethnic cultures have attracted domestic and international film, TV drama, and entertainment program production teams to come for location shooting. Mengyuan Fairyland was the filming location for the BBC's 'Exploring Chinese Cuisine - Xishuangbanna' documentary; Baidu and Discovery's 'U Survival Pioneer Challenge'; the movie 'Peacock Princess' starring Tang Guoqiang, which is based on a true story; and Hunan Satellite TV's Mango TV's 'Wild Kitchen' and 'Chasing the Ball'.
