Houguan Village, Houguan Market, Ancient Houses 2️nd Stop｜General’s Temple: Located within Houguan Village, this temple honors ancient generals. Built centuries ago, it has weathered dynastic changes and multiple restorations, including during the Qing Dynasty’s Daoguang era when villagers repaired the City God Temple and refurbished the General’s Temple. Inside, you’ll find numerous statues, intricate murals, and carvings, offering insights into history and culture. 3️rd Stop｜City God Temple: Preserved since the Tang Dynasty, this temple features a stage, worship pavilion, viewing tower, bell and drum towers, and a main hall adorned with exquisite wood carvings. 4️th Stop｜Wushui Park: Home to attractions like the Zhenguo Pagoda and Luonü Temple, the park offers sweeping river views and refreshing breezes. One side borders the bustling ancient ferry port, now transformed into the Houguan Sluice Gate with seven gates and nine openings, connecting to the Min River and aiding flood control for the university town. The other side faces mountains and the river. 5️th Stop｜Luonü Temple / Zhenguo Pagoda: By the river stands Luonü Temple, dedicated to the mythical "Snail Girl" from folklore. In front of the temple is the famous Zhenguo Pagoda, a landmark of Houguan. Locals call it the "Guardian Tower." Built with granite in a wooden pavilion style, it exudes historic grandeur and is the perfect spot to watch the sunset over Houguan Ancient Street! 6️th Stop｜Ancient Ferry Pier: Just in front of the Zhenguo Pagoda lies the ancient ferry pier, shaded by a century-old banyan tree.
