A CAVE EXPLORATION AT NIAH NATIONAL PARK

#gooutside A trip to Sarawak Borneo did not complete without a visit to one of the cave in this state. Niah cave is one of them. Located around 100km from Miri city centre, this Niah cave is indeed a place where people can experience a cave exploration on their own without having a guide. As it is part of Niah National Park, visitor will be required to pay the entrance fee for this visit. Facilities like chalet accomodation is provided for those looking a longer stay at this National Park. Basic facilities like toilet is available at the main office entrance. Upon entering the National park entrance, visitor need to cross the river by using the boat provided. Extra cautious need to be taken as the sign clearly mentioned " AWAS BUAYA" or translated to " BE CAREFULL OF CROCODILE" in english. So if you are planninf to swim to cross the river, the. you have to think twice!! Most of the walking path was properly build with wood planks, so visitors do not have to worry about the track path. Just follow the wooden planks, then you will directed towards the amazing view of Niah cave. Half way through, if you are lucky you will see some locals selling sourviniers, cold drinks and some snacks. It is a perfect stop before you continue your 3km journey to the mouth of niah cave. Allocate 3-4 hours for this cave exploration and head lamp or any torchlight is advisable as you will need them once you enter the dark area of the cave. Overall it was a great experience to be able to explore the Niah cave which is one of the main archieological site in south east asia. #niahcave #borneo
