Miyakojima Travelogue – Summary of tips on schedule, spots, and transportation

#June Travel Support Fund Miyakojima is a small island in Okinawa Prefecture, Japan. It takes about an hour to get there by domestic flight from Naha. There are also direct flights from Tokyo Haneda and Osaka Kansai, so accessibility is surprisingly good. It is essential to rent a car right at the airport, but there is almost no public transportation, and it is no exaggeration to say that the entire island is a driving route. 📍Day 1: As soon as you arrive, go straight to Blue Turtle Beach. The emerald sea is even clearer and clearer in person. There are well-equipped snorkeling points, and equipment can be rented on site. There is also a small shower room and cafe nearby, so it is a good place to spend half a day. In the afternoon, drive to Higashi-Henna Cape. The photo taken on the bridge leading to the lighthouse at the end of the cape is a great shot. 📍Day 2: The Funakusu Island Tour departs by boat in the morning. Advance reservations are required for the tour company, and includes a quiet uninhabited island experience, snorkeling, and a simple picnic. On the way back, I recommend driving across the Ikema Bridge to Ikema Island. The view is so great that it feels like you're driving over the ocean. 🍽️ The best food is Okinawa soba, melon shaved ice, and coffee at a cafe by the sea. Miyakojima is quiet because there aren't many tourists, and the natural scenery is charming.
