This is a treasured church whose interior structure is hard to imagine from the outside.

Spanish Mediterranean Coast Tour ~ Tarragona (Region) Personally I was very impressed by the look of it, it's very imposing, you wouldn't expect it in such a small town but it's beautiful. The New Church of St. Michael the Archangel, also known as the "Baikkamp Cathedral" due to its large size, began construction in 1801; even today it remains unfinished. The church is located on a hillside with 22 houses which have been demolished for their work, but it is believed that there was a castle on the same site in the 12th century. This ambitious architectural project spanned periods of crisis, prosperity, war and peace. It was not until 1947 that the first mass was celebrated at the main altar, and although the church was not yet completed, in 1962 Jaume Minguell began to fresco its interior. The paintings show various biblical landscapes and social realities of the time. Visitors who wish to admire the church must do so during mass.
