From Svolvær to Reine, the snow-capped mountains and fjords along the way are as beautiful as postcards, but what always makes me press the shutter are the colorful cabins. Those saturated red and yellow houses were crookedly embedded in the snow, like building blocks thrown around by children. The chimneys of the old houses in the fishing village were emitting steam, a corner of the dark blue door curtain was lifted by the sea breeze, and frozen buoys were piled under the paint-mottled dock warehouse. These vivid fragments of life touched my aesthetic taste more than the scenery on the postcards. Perhaps the residents of the Arctic Circle have already comprehended the philosophy of winter and use oil paints to fight the long polar night.
