Attraction Recommendations • Nagoya Castle: One of Japan's three great castles, built by Tokugawa Ieyasu in 1610, and one of the power centers of the Edo Shogunate. It has famous attractions such as the Golden Shachihoko, the Tenshukaku, and the Honmaru Palace. The Tenshukaku is 5 stories high and offers a panoramic view of Nagoya. Located at 1-1 Honmaru, Naka Ward, Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture, it is open from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm. Tickets are JPY 500. Take the Meijo Line subway to Nagoya Castle Station, and walk about 5 minutes from Exit 7. • Atsuta Shrine: One of Japan's three great shrines, founded in the 43rd year of Emperor Keiko's reign, and enshrining the Kusanagi Sword. It has a long history and many famous attractions, such as the Main Hall, the Betsugu, and the Kaguraden. The Main Hall is the core building, the Betsugu enshrines many deities, and the Kaguraden is where the Kagura dance is performed. Located at 1-1-1 Jingu, Atsuta Ward, Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture, the shrine is open all day. The Treasure Hall and Kusanagi Hall are open from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm.
