Sanco Inn Grande Nagoya Review

Sanco Inn Grande Nagoya is a hotel connected to Nagoya Station via an underground passage. The reception is located on the 8th floor, and guest rooms are on floors 9 through 16. It is directly connected to Kokusai Center Station and about an 8-minute walk from Nagoya Station. The underground passage is part of the Unimall shopping area, which also has a Starbucks. I checked in around 9 PM. Opened during the COVID-19 period, the hotel is four years old but feels more like a two-year-old property in terms of condition. I booked a Standard Twin Room and was assigned a corner room on the 15th floor. Located at a major intersection, the room offers a good view. Being a corner room, it has windows on two sides, allowing guests to enjoy views of Nagoya city and the skyscrapers near Nagoya Station. The bathroom is divided into three sections, with a spacious bathtub and a large bathroom area. The room also features a three-seater sofa, and various bath salts are available at the amenity bar. There is no bottled water in the room; the sink water is drinkable. The elevator only goes up to the 8th floor, requiring a transfer to reach guest rooms. The elevators are located at both ends of the building, so you must pass through the reception area to access the rooms from outside. This layout is similar to other hotels in Nagoya, such as the Marriott, Prince, and JR Gate. The 8th floor houses the restaurant, public bath, and coin laundry. The public bath is not natural hot spring water but an artificial onsen. It is a very small bath with one tub and six shower stations. Complimentary water and ice pops are provided. Breakfast is served in a small area that accommodates about 30 people. It tends to be crowded between 7:30 and 8:30 AM, but I had breakfast at 6:30 AM. Unlimited servings of grilled eel and miso katsu are available, along with a good selection of sweets. The highlight of the breakfast is the milk. I don’t know the brand, but the milk was so delicious that I went back for it four times during breakfast. It ranks among the top three milks I’ve had, alongside Furano Milk and Okinawa EM Milk.
